ive checked that first thought for meSometimes phones have a dB limit that you would need to uncheck. My S9+ (yes, still using an old phone) does this with BT devices.
the only thing that makes it better but not on par is selecting only media under Bluetooth settings for my phoneI've never used the satellite radio, probably never will, but having the phone plugged in or not doesn't affect the levels for android auto.

This. Mine and my wife’s iPhone 5Cs (old) work great in our ‘21 hatch with jbl. It could be the android? OR a equalizer/sound setting within the phone like something that adds more bass or something that your phone is running that the jbl doesn’t support.Have you tried a different brand phone to see if you get the same result?
