Anyone Ride Bikes?

9470 Views 71 Replies 21 Participants Last post by  qtb007
I just grabbed a Trek Marlin 6 over the weekend to begin my journey in MTB riding.
I was a BMX punk as a kid and the go-to for fixing all the neighborhood kids bikes so bikes aren’t new to me, but hurling myself down a hill on one is 😂

What do y’all ride?
How do you carry them on your car/truck?

Long time rider, been riding MTB since its begining in the 80’s. Have two main bikes, Yeti SB140 and Fat Chance Chris Cross.
I either take front wheel and cram them inside the Yaris, or have a rack on rear of FRS that is a normal roof rack tray attached to custom machine stainless rods screwed into the tow hook points.
friends with pickups either just throw into bed, use a tailgate pad, or made a rack out of pvc pipe to hold bike up vertically in bed.

I'm a XC MTB'er. I go road trips to ride.

And that's my nest in my ST. I checked and I know I can fit in Corolla Hatch's cargo space.

I have a playbike for the backyard. A honda 230 motor wrapped into a cr85 chasis. Also a klx 100 with ktm 65 front and modifed rear suspension. Both provide loads of fun!
Sir, we have a thread for that.

here you go:

Some nice two-wheeled rides here!
I’m currently sitting by the door awaiting a bike-related package from Amazon.

Have been slacking on actually riding lately but I’ll join. After my last bike got stolen, I decided to rebuild the old Flandria that was sitting in my parents attic since the early 90’s and converted it to a fixed gear for ease.

I have a Trek Madone SL6.
Ride 15 miles most days.
Garmin indicates I rode 3,698 miles for prior 12 months.
More miles than I put on my car.
Nice.👍👍

Revel Ranger MTB and a Giant revolt for gravel and road duties. Yakima roof rack on my Mazda 3 hatch. I’ll be using the same setup on the GR Corolla. Here’s another Balm Boyette shot @Kazie although I don’t live in Florida

I have a State fixed gear and a Kink Switch. I do a lot of fast urban riding on the fixie and some dirt jump stuff on the BMX. Any other dirt jump or fixie riders in here?

After experimenting with several techniques, I feel that the best way to transport my mountain bikes (that I got here btw) is on a Thule rear mounted tow bar carrier. This eliminates the drag/noise associated with roof carriers and eliminates the possibility of vehicle damage associated with carriers that attach to the back of the vehicle.
Unfortunately, my Toyota does not have a tow bar, but I have used the rear mounted carrier on my wife's car, which is really useful. With the bikes mounted, the rack may be slanted down to allow access to the back hatch.
We considered transporting the bikes in the rear of the car.
I currently have a 2019 Cannondale F-Si Carbon 2, 2016 Cannondale Slate Ultegra, and 2016 Cannondale CAAD12 Ultegra. I'm waiting on a Scalpel SE that may never arrive, though. :(
