Theyre setting up a harmonic between them, you need to get rid of one.VIN 1959 CORE Base
VIN 1970 CORE TP/PP
Both exhibit this droaning issue
No because it’s speed based and exhaust wouldn’t by cyclic like this isI have the same thing. VIN 1871 , Build date 12/22.
Are we sure it's not just exhaust drone/resonance instead of a drive line thing?
I'm picking up what you're putting down, about it possibly being strictly speed based. My thoughts though were that, it could be load based, since the load at that same rpm range is different in every gear, with the highest load being in 6th... I also do not get the noise at the same speed in 5th gear, does everyone else?No because it’s speed based and exhaust wouldn’t by cyclic like this is
Does yours have the noise? My vin is 1445
Give it a whirl in the am without cruise...it's definitely throttle/load dependent.no noise
2010, PP
aftermarket wheels and tires
I didn't use cruise control though. If I can ill try again in the morning with cc.
Personally, I do not believe this is engine related, I believe it is drivetrain related. Based on experience with other similar noises in Toyota products, I think it's a shaft that's machined out of tolerance causing the noise to phase in and out at certain speeds, being shaft speed, not road speed.VIN 1407 no noise. You don't think the engine builders may have botched something up when production ramped up do you? That would suck for everyone after a certain VIN number set...
That's actually a great idea! Very quick and easy to do and would quickly confirm or deny. I personally don't think that's it, but it would be super quick easy. Now you're thinking like a technician. 😉Maybe unplug the exhaust valve to make sure it’s not that?
Doesn't the car go into reduced power mode if you unplug this valve?Maybe unplug the exhaust valve to make sure it’s not that?
I seem to recall reading somewhere here on the forum that somebody tried it and it did not cause an issue, but I haven't tried it personally.Doesn't the car go into reduced power mode if you unplug this valve?
I’ve seen multiple people on the fb group say it has but I don’t believe it’s immediate and you hopefully would have time for one quick freeway drive to testI seem to recall reading somewhere here on the forum that somebody tried it and it did not cause an issue, but I haven't tried it personally.
In that case you think they botched something up with the drivetrain components and/or set ups?Personally, I do not believe this is engine related, I believe it is drivetrain related. Remember that Toyota doesn't build every single component on the vehicle. They contract another reputable company to build large components for them. Toyota doesn't make wheels as an example, they buy them from another company. Likewise for things like transmission and transfer case. I haven't crawled under the car to look for any stamping or casting marks, but I would suspect that the drive line components are built by Aisan-Warner. Even the best of companies have a glitch in manufacturing once in awhile. In that case you think they botched something up with the drivetrain components and/or set ups?
