Anyone run into an issue where their car won’t take an update?

I initially brought my car in to the dealer for a check engine and system malfunction light. I haven’t gotten the cel code from them yet, but it looks like it may be the P2C90 as i had the same lights pop up on the dash and the initial fix the dealer came to was to perform an update to the ecu. But they were unsuccessful and say that my car just won’t take the update for some reason. They had a technician come and check it out, but that was on the 11th and the dealership says they are still waiting to hear back on an actual fix.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this issue.

Were they plugging directly into the car's OBD port? A lot of dealers installed GPS trackers (some disclosed, some undisclosed to the buyer) and this can cause issues with trying to flash the ECU. I was "upsold" lo-jack tracking on my purchase so I know about it but your dealer might not know you have one. They need to take off the cover, unplug it and connect directly to the car's port. Tuners warn you about this before you flash.

It's pretty obvious if they're in there. They piggyback off the OBD port, so if you stick your head down in the driver's side footwell, pop off the little cover panel, you'll see it right there.

The OBD port itself should be made of a translucent, milky white-colored plastic. If it's anything but that, it may be worth investigating and making sure you don't have some bullshit in there.

That's a video outlining what was found and where.
