Vented hood is now standard!

“The structural updates are subtle yet noticeable. The 2026 GR seemed to require fewer steering corrections, letting us carry more speed through corners, brake a skosh later, and get on the throttle a hair sooner. We felt more confident hustling the car through sections like Sonoma’s challenging esses and wide-arcing Turn 9.”

“Less obvious are the improvements to airflow around the engine compartment. A second intake duct now helps channel static air away from the high-strung turbo-three powerplant, while the bulge hood—standard on every GR Corolla this year—vents hot air through two openings, further aiding thermal management.”

I was already thinking there would likely not be another model year after MY26 on this same platform, especially with the GRMN, but I think the reduction in trims and relative lack of updates on the 26 really confirmed it for me.

People were saying at launch that it would only be 3 model years because the standard Corolla would get a redesign at that time... and here we are 4 model years and 1 refresh in. Some schedule that was leaked last year showed MY27 or CY27 being an "improvement" or something of that nature, so I fully expect that the model will keep moving forward largely divorced from the standard Corolla. A heavier refresh (headlights/taillights, interior) would probably go with the Corolla but the hard parts of the car (metal and powertrain) would stay the same.

I prefer the look of my smoothie, but I’d take the extra cooling of the vented one if I could have it for free.
Smooth hood fog light color available in every year 2023 base model gang checking in.
  • SMOOTH HOOD W/ INSULATOR
  • FOG LIGHTS
  • RENTAL FABRIC INTERIOR

I think it’s time to start a “smoothie” thread boys

Ya people were saying three years only because yes the Tinga platform is getting redone and was expected to happen in 26 but for several reasons Toyota pushed it to 27 and Yes it is happening in 27 . You can wish all you want crack is real and dreaming comes with it.
Do not expect the model to carry over on the revised platform and Toyota has other GR cars in the planning so it would make sense for them to move on from this one. Look at their past to see how many times they have done a platform in a 3-4 year run and then not immediately if ever returned to it. The odds do not fall in favor of your presumptions.
Yeah, I dunno where folks got the idea that Toyota would keep the E210 GRC going while a new platform comes out. Not to say that's impossible, plenty of companies have done that for a short period of time, but if the GRC continues long term, then it will either be on that new platform or it will cease to exist.

The E210 Corolla isn't getting a "new platform" when it gets a generation change. TNGA-C will be the next gen Corolla because Toyota typically runs platforms for 2-3 generations. The MC/new MC Corollas ran from 2000 - 2018. The K platform Camry ran from 2001 - 2017 before it changed to the TNGA-K. The Camry on TNGA-K is on its 2nd generation. The new, sexy Prius is on a carryover TNGA-C platform from the ugly '15-'21 model.
