The GRC is suppose to go up against the STi version. This WRX is more of a Si fighterIf our numbers are close to what we think the GR will smoke this car. Buddy does a good job on explaining stuff good video
Thing is that from an American stand point, most will go for the STi because it's said to finally make 400hp, it's going to be around the same price as the GRC, and people would justify the money for an STi more than for "just a Corolla". However, they'll be very similar 0-60 times I'm sure as the STi will most likely still be a heavy dog like the current one.The GRC is suppose to go up against the STi version. Thank you for the explantionHighly doubtful as the G16 is currently only used in an AWD setup so it'd be a lot of money to make a different trans and suspension setup for a FWD version. The GRY in Japan has a FWD version but that has a 1.3L engine, not the G16
I wouldn’t want it if we did, to tag along on Wynorrific’s explanation 😂Wow that is crazy to think of...Is it possible we get a fwd version
Agreed. The only way Toyota would've done that is if the GRC was gonna be a FWD with a different motor instead of the G16 GR-Four we're getting which would've been too much money for Toyota to develop instead of doing what they're doing nowI wouldn’t want it if we did, to tag along on Wynorrific’s explanation 😂
Toyota in my opinion wouldn’t make a competitive fwd Corolla to fight a Type R. Honda’s been at it too long.
If Toyota jimmy rigged the platform to be RWD with the same body I’d consider buying it if it was the base. 🤣Agreed. The Type R is a fwd monster. I'd run in to couple when I tracked my Focus RS, it's significantly lighter than its competitors and handles incredibly well. But, I'm glad the GRC is confirmed with awd. I'm sure most of the Type Rs here in UT are in winter storage.Yup spot on
I think people also underestimate how popular the CivIc Type R is too. My friend is a huge Honda head and he’s trying to buy a CTR around the same time it releases (so around the same time as us with the GRC)
As much as I personally don’t like Honda’s, that thing is argued to be the king of modern hatches with just FWD. It had better times than the base GTR around the Nurburgring. It’s kind of crazy. 😂
I mean I’m sure the WRX is being released sooner than later as it is Subaru’s flagship.Just heard from one of my sales managers that the new STi might not come for another 2 or 3 years. They want to test the waters with the WRX to see what people like and don't like and refine that with the STi. The STi is a big contender for me besides the GRC because while I very much prefer a GRC, my work gives money off your monthly lease based on how long you've worked there and that coupled with the employee discount makes it much nicer of a payment than if I was to get an STi as just a customer
Well originally when we first all met, I was curious on why people aren’t considering the WRX since it is a rally bred car. The GRC is awesome but it’s still jumping into a market that’s been owned by the Type R and STi.Oh yeah, regardless of the look it seems to be getting great reviews and is a big improvement performance wise over the previous gen. I think Subaru right now is just playing around with how they want it the STi to look and if they really want to make 400hp right now. The 2.4T can definitely take it as it's a well built motor but I'm sure they're trying to balance the experience with a good torque curve and good power to weight
